The Sports Capital of Texas will host the 2011 Texas Fire Olympics!
ROUND ROCK, TX – December 23, 2009 – Cities from across Texas submitted written bids for the opportunity to host the upcoming Texas Firefighter Olympics. From those bids, cities were selected to give a presentation to the board. After a presentation by Round Rock Firefighter, John Collins and a site visit, Round Rock was officially designated the host city for the 2011 Texas Firefighter Olympics!
This annual event will bring Firefighters from Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma for a week long competition in events ranging from soccer, clay shooting and golf to billiards and disc golf. This brotherhood of Firefighters has been competing for the gold, silver and bronze metals since the first Texas Olympics in 1982.
“We are excited to be awarded the hosting honors,” said Chief Hodge of the Round Rock Fire Department. “Our guys are competitive and we are excited to show off our facilities and our department’s athletic abilities. We look forward to welcoming our fellow Firemen to our great city.”
Activities will begin the third week of July with venues all over the Round Rock and Williamson County area, for more information check out www.texasfirefighterolympics.com
