AAU Cross Country Meet

ROUND ROCK, TX – November 6, 2009 – The Amateur Athletic Union is returning to Round Rock with the South Texas District Cross Country Championship on November 22. The event will showcase several of the district’s top endurance runners through Old Settlers Park’s three miles of lake view trails.

“Cross country running heavily relies on an athlete’s ability to endure the trail conditions. The determination of these athletes really rings true to our ‘Game On!’ rally cry,” explains Nancy Yawn, Director of the Round Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau.

This event made its way to Round Rock last November bringing with it 100 runners and their families. The city will also play host to several other cross country events including the McNeil Cross Country Meet and the UIL Cross Country State Meet. The use of Old Settlers Park by so many organizations goes to show what an awesome facility the city has to offer its citizens and visitors.

The Amateur Athletic Union is an organization dedicated to supporting sports and physical fitness programs across the country. Top athletes from the United States have been AAU members including Shawn Johnson and Michael Phelps.
