Round Rock named 11th safest city in U.S.

ROUND ROCK, Texas -- One of the safest places to live in the country is right here in Central Texas. The city of Round Rock has been ranked as one of the top spots for safety in a study based on low crime statistics.

Krave Bar and Bistro is a popular new restaurant in Round Rock. It used to be boarded up and dilapidated.
Owner Susan Mendenhall got rid of raccoons invading the building and has made some remarkable improvements.

Design, construction plans for indoor sports complex under way

As soon as the end of January, Round Rock officials could have the design and construction plans of a 70,000–75,000-square-foot indoor sports complex that has been in the works since 2006.

“Come end of January, we will have a better idea of what the building will have in it. Not only what is going to be in it, but how it’s going to look,” Round Rock City Manager Steve Norwood said.

Round Rock to host Super Series

If ghosts and goblins aren't your thing this Halloween season come out to Old Settlers Park and cheer on your favorite youth baseball team. Super Series returns for its final qualifying tournament in Round Rock, this season.

Super Series Baseball of America tournaments provide an opportunity for teams of varying skill levels to enjoy competing in qualifying tournaments, and to earn a berth in National Championship and World Series events.

Games begin Saturday at Champion Fields in Old Settlers Park. Admission is $4 at the gate for those 17 years of age and up.

Firefighters Converge on Round Rock

Round Rock, Texas - The Texas Firefighter Olympics were held in Round Rock July 17-22, bringing in more than 3,000 participants and spectators for the week long event.

The firefighters completed in 18 different sporting events ranging from basketball and disc golf to tennis and washers.

"In 2009, we were excited to be considered as a host city," said Nancy Yawn, director of the Round Rock Convention and visitors Bureau. "Now that the event is here we can't wait to cheer on all the firefighters who come to compete!"

Super Series Labor Day Lounger

ROUND ROCK, TX –Super Series Labor Day Lounger is a weekend tournament for young athletes to get their cleats dirty and broken in for a brand new season. All U8-U14 American, National, and Minor Divisions will play at Champion Fields in Old Settlers Park on Labor Day weekend.

“Rick Stevens and Blue Diamond tournaments have done a spectacular job running quality tournaments,” said CVB Director Nancy Yawn. “Rick is a great partner to us, our hotels and local businesses and we are excited to get things rolling for the fall season.”

The event is a weekend tournament designed for young athletes to get their cleats dirty and broken in for a brand new season. All U8-U14 American, National, and Minor divisions will play at Champion Fields in Old Settlers Park Sept. 3-4.
